Aquaponics is the logical step to make when people have limited garden space, water restrictions, are renting, don’t have time to spend cultivating the soil, and run busy lives and hectic family schedules.

I believe in empowering families to be self-sufficient in any and all ways possible, including composting, worm farms, and wicker beds.

I am a bit unconventional as I engage with playfulness and simplicity that it is easy for people of all ages to understand, and also enjoy as they learn to live healthily. I’ve often been told that my passion is contagious, and that I “make it easy for you to learn what you need to know”.

“You don’t know what you don’t know”, I’m living proof that aquaponics is a learned skill. The biggest issue today, is people don’t know that they don’t know something. That and they over complicate things. I’m all for keeping things simple.

“People are interested and want to learn, but they don’t know where to start and they don’t know what questions to ask to find their way”. This is why I created free training to help people on their journey, so they have some basics to understand what they don’t know, and learn where to go from here.

What Is Aquaponics?

Nature Already Knows the Answer

Aquaponics is a way of growing plants and raising fish together in one naturally balanced ecosystem.

Instead of using soil, plants grow with their roots in water that has been enriched by nutrients from the fish.

Beneficial bacteria quietly convert those nutrients into a form that plants can absorb, while the plants naturally help clean the water before it returns to the fish.

The result is a simple cycle inspired by nature.

Once you understand how those three parts work together—fish, bacteria and plants—aquaponics suddenly becomes much easier to understand.

A Simple Ecosystem

Although aquaponics can look impressive, the basic idea is surprisingly simple.

Everything revolves around three living parts working together.

🐟 Fish

Fish naturally produce waste that contains nutrients.

🦠 Beneficial Bacteria

Friendly bacteria convert those nutrients into forms plants can use.

🌿 Plants

The plants absorb those nutrients as food while helping to clean the water.

The cleaned water returns to the fish, and the cycle begins again.

Nature has been creating balanced ecosystems long before we came along.

Aquaponics simply brings those natural relationships together in a way we can use to grow fresh food at home.

What Aquaponics Isn't

Many people imagine aquaponics is complicated.

In reality, most of the confusion comes from unfamiliar words rather than difficult concepts.

Aquaponics isn't hydroponics with fish.

It isn't a giant commercial greenhouse.

It doesn't have to involve complex plumbing.

And it certainly doesn't require a huge backyard.

At its heart, aquaponics is simply learning how to care for a small ecosystem.

Once that idea clicks into place, everything else becomes much easier to understand.

Why So Many People Love Aquaponics

People discover aquaponics for many different reasons.

Some want to grow fresh herbs and vegetables.

Others enjoy caring for fish.

Some appreciate using less water than many traditional growing methods.

Others simply enjoy learning something new.

For me, it became much more than growing food.

Spending time caring for living plants and fish became a peaceful part of my daily routine.

It didn't magically solve life's challenges, but it gave me something positive to nurture and helped me slow down.

That's one of the reasons I enjoy introducing other people to aquaponics.

Everyone discovers their own reason for loving it.
