Or perhaps you've already downloaded one of my free resources and now you're wondering what comes next.

Welcome.

You don't need to build a system today. You don't need to understand every piece of equipment. And you definitely don't need to become an expert before you're allowed to start exploring.

Have a look around, follow the things you're curious about and learn at your own pace.

New to Aquaponics? You're in the Right Place

Aquaponics can look complicated from the outside.

Fish tanks. Grow beds. Pumps. Plumbing. Water testing. Bacteria. Plants.

But underneath all of that is a surprisingly simple idea.

Fish produce waste. Beneficial bacteria help convert that waste into nutrients the plants can use. The plants take up those nutrients, helping clean the water before it returns to the fish.

Three living parts working together in one ecosystem.

Once you understand that basic relationship, everything else starts to have somewhere to fit.

So don't worry about learning it all at once.

Start with the question you have now.

Where Would You Like to Go Next?

There's no single right way to learn aquaponics.

Choose what sounds most like where you are right now.

I'M STILL WORKING OUT WHAT AQUAPONICS IS

Start with the basics.

Learn how fish, plants and beneficial bacteria work together, what an aquaponics system actually does and why people use aquaponics to grow food at home.

I WANT TO KNOW IF AQUAPONICS COULD WORK IN MY SPACE

You don't necessarily need a farm — or even a large backyard — to grow food with aquaponics.

Aquaponics systems can be designed for different spaces, including courtyards, smaller backyards and rental properties, and even an existing aquarium can become a place to experiment with growing plants.

I WANT TO GROW SOME OF MY OWN FOOD

For many people, this is where the whole journey begins.

Fresh herbs for dinner. Leafy greens outside the back door. Vegetables you've watched grow rather than picked up from a supermarket shelf.

Aquaponics can be one way to bring food growing into everyday life, even when traditional gardening isn't the easiest option.

I'M READY TO LEARN A LITTLE MORE

If the basics are starting to make sense and you're ready to go a little deeper, my free mini course will introduce you to aquaponics step by step.

It's still beginner-friendly. You don't need an aquaponics system before you begin.

I HAVE A PARTICULAR QUESTION

Wondering what fish you can keep? What vegetables will grow? Whether aquaponics uses much electricity? If you can have a system indoors?

What happens when you go on holidays?

You don't always need another course.

Sometimes you just need an answer.

I'M INTERESTED IN MORE THAN GROWING FOOD

Aquaponics became much more than a way of growing vegetables for me.

Over the years, I've found myself using the movement of water, caring for fish and plants, observation and the rhythms of my systems as part of how I slow down, reconnect and regulate myself.

On my Garden Therapy page, I share that personal side of aquaponics and what it has come to mean in my own life.

Start Small. Learn Why. Build From There.

My first aquaponics system failed.

Not because aquaponics didn't work.

I simply didn't know what I didn't know.

That experience eventually led me to study aquaculture, learn more about water quality, fish, filtration and system design, and understand why an aquaponics system works rather than simply following instructions.

It's also why I don't expect beginners to know everything before they start.

You can begin with curiosity.

Learn one thing.

Ask questions.

Try something small.

And build your knowledge from there.

You don't need them all.

Choose what helps with your next step.

You don't need to understand every part of aquaponics.

And you don't need to decide today how far you want to take it.

You've already started by being curious.

Now just follow the next question.
